Pink Grapefruit meets ganz dezentes Gras. Ich hatte schon wieder fast vergessen, wie er einen vom ersten Schluck an begeistert. Neues Wort dafür - edelsüffig! Er zeigt den Holzmonstern die kalte Schulter. Brillante Fruchtnoten. Holunder, Maracuja, schwarze Johannisbeeren, Guave, Zitrusfrüchte. Etwas Florales. Kräuter. Schafgarbe? Geissblatt? Herrlich!

Winemaker´s Comment: 100% hand picked.Sourced from cool, high elevation vineyards in the Adelaide Hills. Meticulous viticulture, with cane pruning, vertical shoot positioning, and yields limited through shoot and bunch thinning to increase fruit intensity. Fermented cool (10-12°C) in stainless steel followed by a short maturation on lees. Early bottling to retain freshness. Produced using sustainable practices. In transation to Organic vineyards.
Tasting Notes: The 2021 has lemon, lime and pink grapefruit aromas and real persistence of flavour. Great balance with bright acidity.
Vintage: The growing season for the 2021 vintage was terrific, a joy after the traumas of 2020. Soaking winter rains gave us plenty of moisture in the soil, and that flowed into healthy crops. The summer was mild, with slow ripening giving the grapes lots of flavour and intensity.
Your favourite recipe for this wine: Barbecued prawns with avocado pico de gallo. A great aperitif or serve with seafood. Ideal temperature is 6-8°C. Wir mögen ihn besonders zu Sashimi vom Lachs mit Ingwer, Shoyu und Wasabi.

"Hand-picked fruit, cool fermentation in stainless steel, maturation on lees and early bottling. A model of consistency over 32 vintages, Shaw + Smith Sauvignon Blanc continues to lead the way in 2021 with a combination of fruit intensity and a seeming lightness of being. It's told in 2 parts; the 1st is exuberant tropicals, citrus and herbal interplay, but it quickly moves into a state of serious intensity, filigree acidity and mealy texture. That lasting impression saturates the tastebuds and stays with you. 96 points"

This is a particularly delicious bottling from one of the Adelaide Hills region's most well-known names. Bright peach and citrus fruit bounce from the glass, with more delicate floral notes just behind. There's almost none of the green veg pungency found in many New World Sauvignons. The palate offers equally vibrant fruit flavors. It glides along a creamy texture, finishing long and refreshing. 93 points.
Tyson Stelzer - Wine Buisness Monthly - January 2022
Shaw + Smith’s famous Sauvignon continues to hit new heights, and the cool 2021 season draws out its refreshing side without wanting for anything in power or punch. The full spectrum of Sauvignon character is laid out in a grand panorama spanning everything from cut grass to sweet gooseberries and passionfruit, centred emphatically on lemon citrus. Grand length and concentration. 94 points
Campbell Mattinson – The Wine Front – January 2022
Varietal flavours are clear but then so too is texture and restraint. This is a pretty sophisticated release. Lemongrass and tropical fruit flavours meet gunmetal, blackcurrant bud and mango skin. It carries all this flavour/texture and yet it remains impeccably neat. 93 Point

Handpicked fruit has always been a hallmark here, reflecting the attention to detail that flows across the whole Shaw & Smith empire. There is also a contained generosity, with green melon, some sort of tropical fruit, and crisp – but not harsh – acidity. Maybe less grassy and ‘typical’ than some years, and feels better for it. It’s not a complex wine, but doesn’t pretend too – it’s just a good drink. 92/100
